1. Safety Culture: We have a strong safety culture within the organization, where every team member  understands and prioritizes safety as a core value. At Nix, our entire company meets every Tuesday to discuss the previous week’s safety near misses, incidents, and training topics. Along with this, each individual team meets daily for a morning safety ‘tool box’ meeting.
2. Training Programs: We have implemented safety training programs, focusing on hazard recognition, proper use of equipment, and adherence to safety protocols. 
3. Risk Assessment: Our Operations Excellence Manager conducts thorough risk assessments for all work processes and identifies potential hazards, then regularly reviews and updates safety protocols based on new findings or emerging risks. Also, our team members are able to submit ideas for improvement to minimize or eliminate risks. 
4. Safety Equipment and Tools: We provide our team members with high-quality personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that it is regularly inspected, maintained, and replaced when necessary. 
5. Continuous Monitoring and Auditing: We regularly monitor and evaluate safety performance through audits, inspections, and observations. This helps us identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions promptly.
6. Empowerment and Accountability: We encourage our team members at all levels to take ownership of safety; to stop work (take 5) if they identify any potential safety concerns. We have a supportive environment where reporting incidents or near misses is encouraged, without fear of retribution.
