What are your favorite hobbies?

Anything outdoors including dirt bike riding and horseback riding with my family.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

The people.  We all work towards a common goal and are hard workers.

Yes.

Do you have any children?

Yes, I have two daughters.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

I have enjoyed projects where it’s all on me.  I show up at a job site with a torch, a welder, and some metal and I have to use problem solving to create something truly custom.

What is something your co-workers may not know about you?

Before I was born, my parents really wanted a girl so they bought all kinds of girl clothes.  Therefore, for the first month of my life, I had to wear girl clothes.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Foraging, bookbinding, and hiking.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

The people I work with.

Are you married?

Yes.

Do you have any children?

Yes, – 2.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

When I first started, I got to work on sandblasting window mounts for the Empire State Building.

Where did you go to school or training?

North Posey and Ivy Tech.

Before working at Nix, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

I tracked turtles for the DNR.

I studied to be a mechanical engineer in Mexico.

What are your favorite hobbies?

I enjoy fishing and spending time with my family.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

The people.  They all accepted me as soon as I joined the team and we like to have fun and joke around.

Yes.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

I’ve enjoyed working on the project in Lexington and getting to do a little out of town work.

What is something your co-workers may not know about you?

I have my best friend’s mom’s name tattooed on me.  She bet me I wouldn’t do it so I had to!

What are your favorite hobbies?

I enjoy all types of hunting – especially competition coon hunting.  I also enjoy watching dirt track racing, boating, and spending time with my fiancée.

Where did you go to school or training?

Princeton Community High School
Vincennes University

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

The camaraderie and atmosphere.  Most days are very laid back and my co-workers are more like friends.  The Heritage Machining Division group is very close since we are so small.

Before working at Nix, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

Scrapping metal in high school and college.

Are you married?

Not yet but will be Nov. 6th, 2021.

Do you have any children?

No.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

The machine work on a large hoist we did for a customer.  There were lots of big components that I got to machine.  I also like doing the one-off parts that walk-in customers bring to us and need re-made.

Tell us a funny or embarrassing story while you were at work.

My first day at Nix I was given a job of turning a very simple part on the lathe.  It had been three years since I had machined anything and I had forgotten which tool I needed to turn the part. I asked a co-worker for help and he questioned if I was actually a machinist or not.  He hasn’t let me live that day down.

What is something your co-workers may not know about you?

I have a degree in Chemistry and used to work in a lab.

What are your favorite hobbies?

I enjoy watching sports. Anything Atlanta (Falcons, Hawks, Braves). In the summer, I like to go boating, wakeboard, and wakesurf. Video games.

Where did you go to school or training?

High School – North Posey
B.S. – University of Evansville
M.S. – University of Arkansas

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

The people. It makes it easy coming to work everyday when you genuinely enjoy the people you work with.

Before working at Nix, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

I used to work in quality control for a food oil company. I ran different analytical tests on fats and oils to make sure they met the necessary specifications.

Are you married?

Yes, I got married on 11/7/20.

Do you have any children?

Yes, I have one daughter. She turned two May 7th.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

Getting Custom Fab ISO 9001: 2015 certified. A lot of different team members worked on it for months and it was great finally seeing it to completion.

Tell us a funny or embarrassing story while you were at work.

There is a running joke with the guys at custom fab that I always end up at whatever location is getting a free lunch. They give me a hard time whenever I show up and say things like “Cole’s here, we must be getting a free lunch today.” Tracy probably does it the most.

What is something your co-workers may not know about you?

I can juggle.

What are your favorite hobbies?

I like to ride my Harley, golf, play cornhole, and play some COD.

Where did you go to school or training?

I graduated from Reitz High School and graduated from Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center in welding technologies.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

Teaching Dakota how to do his job and just being able to work with good friends everyday.

Before working at Nix, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

Welding on barges.

Are you married?

No, but my girlfriend Kylie and I have been together for over 2 years.

Do you have any children?

No but we do have 2 fur babies!

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

I have had a few interesting projects, like the UK projects, but I love to fabricate and learn something new everyday.

Tell us a funny or embarrassing story while you were at work.

Dakota’s dance moves are pretty embarrassing.

What is something your co-workers may not know about you?

I was a model for GQ for 3 years. I went by the name of David Gandy.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Traveling to amusement parks and golf.

Where did you go to school or training?

I have an Associates Degree in Information Technology and learned detailing through training on the job.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

The people that I work with everyday.

Are you married?

Yes, to my lovely wife Angela for going on 11 years.

Do you have any children?

No but we do have pets.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

My favorite project was the Bottleworks Project in Indy.  It was really cool visiting the project once it was opened.

Tell us a funny or embarrassing story while you were at work.

When I got my new desk chair, I found out quickly that if you don’t have the wheels centered that it can flip over.  So one day I was working and sitting on the edge of my seat and all the sudden there was a loud noise. Gary heard the noise and came to inspect what was going on and he found me sitting on the floor and working.

I have a small 20 head cow calf operation.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Spending time with my family.  I also enjoy cars and cows.

Where did you go to school or training?

I took a welding class in high school and went to welding at SICTC.

Before working at Nix, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

I was a maintenance mechanic for very large steel printing presses.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

I love working in a business that supports my community.

Are you married?

Yes.

Do you have any children?

Yes, 2 daughters – Audrey and Elise.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

The co-op mixer #2 went down.  I build the auger and then got to go and lead the install.

I enjoy smoking meat and hanging with my friends.

Before working at Nix, what was the most unusual or interesting job you ever had?

Hanging steel for football stadiums.

What is your favorite thing about working at Nix Companies?

Everyone gets along and has fun.

Do you have any children?

Yes, I have two daughters – one is 10 and the other is 12.

What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on at Nix?

We made a roller rack for barrels for a well-known bourbon company.

Tell us a funny or embarrassing story while you were at work?

One time a co-worker was sick one day.  Our boss text him to see if he’d be in the next day.  The co-worker said “yes” so our boss replied with “10-4” (as in “sounds good”). 6:00 AM rolls around and the co-worker hasn’t showed up.  Turns out, he thought 10-4 meant he was working from 10:00AM to 4:00PM.  It’s still a running joke within the Shop Coatings Division everyday.
